Safety Officer - Open Cast Coal Mines

Experience : 3 - 5 Years

Qualification : Diploma/Degree in Mining or Safety

Key Skills : Implement and monitor compliance with safety policies, procedures, and statutory regulations as per DGMS guidelines.

Conduct daily safety inspections of mining equipment, haul roads, pits, dumps, and workshops.

Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend appropriate control measures.

Investigate incidents/accidents and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.

Conduct regular safety drills, toolbox talks, and training programs for workers and supervisors.

Maintain documentation for safety audits, inspections, and statutory compliance.

Monitor environmental controls (dust, noise, water, etc.) and ensure sustainable practices.

Coordinate with mining, mechanical, and electrical departments to ensure safe work practices.

Ensure the proper use of PPE and enforce discipline regarding its usage.

Liaise with DGMS and other regulatory bodies during inspections or audits.

Recognized Safety Certification (such as DGMS-approved Safety Officer qualification)

Experience in safety operations in open-cast coal mining.

Sound knowledge of Mines Act, 1952 and associated DGMS guidelines.

Proficiency in hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Field Experience of nearly 2- 3 years.

Analytical and problem-solving ability.

Leadership skills and ability to train and motivate teams.

Familiarity with safety audit tools and incident investigation methodologies.
