Job Purpose:

 

To efficiently manage and optimize secondary logistics operations, ensuring timely distribution of cement products from warehouses to customers while minimizing costs and maximizing service quality.


 

Key Responsibilities:


 

1. Secondary Logistics Operations:

 

Oversee daily secondary distribution activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery from warehouse hubs to retail and project sites.
 

Monitor and coordinate fleet availability, vehicle routing, and load planning for optimized delivery schedules.
 

Collaborate with transporters and third-party logistics providers to ensure smooth operations and resolve any delivery issues.

 

2. Cost Optimization & Vendor Management:

 

Drive cost optimization initiatives in transportation, focusing on reducing turnaround time and maximizing load utilization.
 

Negotiate with transport vendors for competitive rates and service quality while maintaining strong relationships with logistics partners.
 

Analyze and review freight costs, fuel consumption, and other key expenses regularly.

 

3. Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

 

Track and evaluate key logistics performance metrics (KPIs) like On-Time Delivery (OTD), vehicle turnaround time, and cost per ton/km.
 

Prepare regular reports and dashboards for senior management, highlighting key trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

 

4. Compliance & Risk Management:

 

Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory standards related to transportation and logistics.
 

Identify and mitigate potential risks in logistics operations (e.g., vehicle breakdowns, delays, product damage in transit).

 

5. Cross-functional Collaboration:

 

Coordinate closely with production, sales, and warehouse teams to ensure alignment in product availability, demand forecasting, and delivery planning.
 

Assist in implementing technology solutions such as GPS tracking, route optimization software, and other logistics tools to enhance efficiency.
 

Manage and mentor a team of logistics executives and coordinators, ensuring that performance targets are met.
 

Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team competencies.
 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field. MBA or relevant postgraduate degree is an advantage.
 

Experience: 5-7 years of experience in logistics, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within the cement or similar heavy industries.
Skills:

 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 

Proficient in logistics software, ERP systems, and MS Office.
 

Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
 

Strong leadership and communication abilities.

 

Education
 

MBA/PGDM in Operations
