Experience in Captive Power Plant (CPP) preferred.
Qualification: BSC / MSC in chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Chemical Science
Roles and Responsibilities:
A. DM Plant & Water Treatment
Supervise operation of DM plant, RO plant, softener, UF, clarifier, and filtration systems.
Ensure consistent production of demineralized water meeting required conductivity and silica specifications.
Monitor and optimize chemical dosing for coagulation, softening, RO, and regeneration cycles.
Ensure preventive maintenance and calibration of instruments like pH meter, conductivity meter, silica analyzer, etc.
B. Boiler Water Chemistry (BFP / AFBC / WHRB / CFBC Boilers – as applicable)
Monitor boiler water parameters such as pH, PO₄, DO, silica, hardness, conductivity, and TDS.
Ensure feedwater, condensate and boiler water chemistry is maintained within OEM/ASME standards.
Support safe and efficient boiler operation, minimizing corrosion and scaling.
C. Cooling Tower & Heat Exchanger Water Chemistry
Monitor cooling tower water parameters: pH, TDS, hardness, chlorides, microbial activity, LSI/SI index.
Maintain anti-scalant, biocide, corrosion inhibitor dosing.
Ensure proper blowdown control and prevent corrosion/scale formation in heat exchangers and condenser.
D. Power Plant Chemistry & Environmental Compliance
Conduct daily water and oil sample testing including turbine oil, gear oils, lube oils, and fuel quality (e.g., coal, HSD).
Ensure effluent water meets statutory norms (pH, TSS, COD, BOD).
Assist in maintaining compliance with pollution control board requirements.
Maintain documentation for ISO, audits, plant records, and statutory compliance.
E. Laboratory Operations
Supervise lab technicians and ensure all lab activities follow SOPs.
Ensure calibration of lab instruments and maintain testing equipment.
Maintain chemical inventory and ensure safe handling/storage.
Review lab test reports and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
F. Troubleshooting & Process Optimization
Conduct root-cause analysis for scaling, corrosion, deposition, or contamination.
Provide technical support during shutdown, start-up, and emergency conditions.
G. Safety & Quality
Follow all safety norms (PPE, MSDS, permit-to-work, LOTO) within the power plant and lab.
Ensure chemical handling safety and maintain housekeeping in lab and DM plant areas.
Participate in safety audits, training, and internal quality meetings.
