Key Responsibilities

 

Develop and execute the sourcing strategy for raw materials, packaging materials, maintenance spares and services for the plant.
 

Identify, evaluate and qualify suppliers, negotiate contracts, secure best-value terms and establish long-term partnerships.
 

Monitor market trends, benchmark pricing, drive cost savings and mitigating risks (supply disruptions, quality issues, and logistics).
 

Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, quality, logistics and finance teams to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
 

Manage purchase orders, vendor performance, delivery timelines, quality compliance and payment processes.
 

Maintain and optimize inventory levels, apply just-in-time sourcing, manage obsolescence and work to minimize working capital tied in procurement.
 

Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, internal controls
 

Key Requirements

 

Demonstrable track record of sourcing raw materials/spares for cement plants in India, strong network of suppliers in Indian market.
 

Strong negotiation skills, commercial acumen, cost-savings mindset and vendor management capability.
 

Understanding of logistics, supply-chain constraints, import/export operations
 

Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
 

Ability to work in a fast-paced plant environment, make data-driven decisions, drive multiple simultaneous procurement projects.

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelors degree in Engineering/Business/Materials Management or equivalent.
 

5-10 years of procurement/purchasing experience in Indian cement industry.
