Power Plant Manager (CPP)
Position Overview: As the Power Plant Manager for the Captive Power Plant (CPP), you will oversee the efficient and safe operation of the plant facility dedicated to supplying power to a specific entity or industrial site. Your role involves managing a team of operators, technicians, and support staff to ensure reliable power generation while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for optimizing plant performance, implementing maintenance schedules, and coordinating with various stakeholders to meet operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Supervise and coordinate the operation of all power plant systems, including boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment, to ensure continuous and reliable power supply.
Monitor plant performance and implement measures to maximize efficiency and output while minimizing fuel consumption and emissions.
Ensure strict adherence to operational procedures, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
Oversee the scheduling of plant operations, including start-up, shutdown, and maintenance activities, to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.
Team Leadership:
Provide leadership and guidance to a team of operators, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure smooth operation and optimal performance of the plant.
Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of plant personnel and promote professional development.
Maintenance and Reliability:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and availability of plant equipment.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule inspections, repairs, and overhauls in accordance with operational requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
Analyze equipment performance data and troubleshoot issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay abreast of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing power plant operations, safety, and environmental protection.
Ensure full compliance with all applicable permits, licenses, and regulatory requirements for the operation of the captive power plant.
Collaborate with regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and reporting processes to maintain compliance and address any concerns promptly.
Budget and Resource Management:
Assist in developing annual budgets and long-term plans for plant operations and maintenance activities.
Monitor expenditures and control costs to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints and operational objectives.
Optimize resource allocation and procurement processes to support efficient plant operations while minimizing costs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering (Electrical, or Thermal Power Management). A master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in a leadership role within a power generation facility, with specific experience in managing captive power plants preferred.
In-depth technical knowledge of power plant systems, equipment, and processes.
Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards related to captive power generation, safety, and environmental compliance.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and effectively manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems and other relevant software like SAP applications.
Education
B.Tech/B.E. in Energy, Mechanical, Electrical
Other Post Graduate, M.Tech in Instrumentation, Electrical, PG Diploma
